The Three Finger Ring Situation!

So I tend to have these crazy situations. I recently bought this really cool 3 finger ring at St. Marks Place. I've been wearing it nearly everyday for the past week. On this particular day I was bloated and so I was a bit bigger than usual. When I put my ring on, the circulation of the blood started cutting off from my fingers.

Okay so I squeeeeeze one finger out, squeeeeze the second finger out even harder and the third...no success. Not with butter not with lotion not with soap & water not with vaseline...you name it. So my finger started swelling and the nerves started throbbing and it started turning a blue-ish purple color.

Hmm...this cant be good.

My good friend Biff Lawson suggested told me that miiight be serious and I could get my finger amputated Sooo off to the ER. The doc chainsawed it off and pryed it open and I was free. Ladies, don't wear rings during that time of the month lol.

I was in Dumbo , Brooklyn on Sunday leaving a wonderful event and on me and Omari's journey to find a way out of the mini-maze of a community, we stumbled upon this cool music/art store called Halcyon. The shop sells old and new vinyl records, CDs, art books, some jewelry and clothes. The decor, the products, and the staff were all very cool!

I mean I really just needed to use the bathroom but I was quite amused when I saw it:

"ITS MY PARTY": Visual Story & Background Explained!

Earlier in the week myself and film director/photographer Jaison Bourne took a vision and brought it to reality with the "Its My Party And I'll Cry If I Want To" Visual Story shoot.

Here's the video:

ABOUT THE STORY

The vision I had for this story was based on the song "Its My Party" by 60's singer Lesley Gore. In this story a young woman, portrayed by myself, has several relationships in her life.

The party symbolizes the joy she experiences when in a relationship.

The men of course symbolize her former boyfriends/beaus.

Their attire is very proper and gentlemanly which represents that things aren't always as nice as they appear to be. In this case being relationships or even the men in her life.

The cake is shaped like a heart. When involved with each man, she has given him her heart and he leaves with a piece of her own, which coincides with the heartbroken saying "he took/has a piece of my heart" In the story the men are seen indulging in the heart-shaped cake.

The mens acts of looking away or talking on their phones, better put as negligence, symbolizes the growing distance in the relationship.

The destroyed cake symbolizes heartbreak and pain.

Depending on Your View, You can also bring forth from the story that You Cant Have Your Cake and Eat It Too.

Story was inspired by real life truths in my own life. I'm sure others can relate!
Special thanks to those who hold a piece of heart till this day.
The heartache and tears lead to the inspiration to my passion in creativity!

Fashion Show included models of all different ages, shapes, sizes and ethnicities. (Models included myself!)

July 3rd, a nice and chill pre- Independence Day event called Vegan Jam took place over in Bushwick, Brooklyn at the Opera House Loft Rooftop.

It was a free event with a suggested donation of only $3 and every guest received a goody bag. The event consisted of great DJ Music, Artists networking, Open Mic rappers and poets took the stage, really good Organic and Vegan refreshments including Meatless Meatballs and Organic Lemonade. There was also a great fashion show segment with recycled/organic made garments by designer Tamara Leacock for her line reciclaGEM.

There was alot of networking, entertainment, and laughs!

This very awesome store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn has occasional events from time to time showcasing the artwork and clothing of some of New York City's most talented. Yesterday was "Death Warmed Over", opening reception of artists' showcased works. The line up of artists included Chris (RWK), Veng, Cake, Luna Park, and Becki Fuller.

I spied with my rather big eyes lots of fun from a huge keg to the tray of spiked jell-o and twinkies, very awesome art, cool music, and chill folks.

Drake's Free NYC Concert : Best I NEVER Had

So Paper Mag had this event today, Tuesday June 15th 2010 at the South Street Seaport in Downtown NYC. Expected performers included Ninjasonik, Hanson (for some odd reason?), and Drizzy Drake himself, whose first album was released today as well.

Apparently everyone and their mother knew about the concert because every spot, corner, crevice, and ROOF was packed with people waiting to see the performance unveil. It was fun while it lasted but it was a complete death trap.

The crowd was so thick, you couldn't move your arm if you tried.

People were climbing on the roofs of those little shop houses and then getting down...I had the misfortune of being the air bag for a girl who climbed off and fell RIGHT onto me... -_____-

She spazzed out at first and then came to some random conclusion that I was trying to help her and went as far as to kissing me on my cheek... o_O

Bottles , plastic and glass, sealed and unsealed were flinging in the air across the crowd. I was lucky enough to get hit in the back by a plastic bottle, unlike two other girls I saw. One dripping with orange juice and another gripping her head after being hit with a full glass Snapple bottle.

It was insane! My friend Kevin lightened the mood as he rooted "Hanson! Hanson!" lmao.

We turned around and left the crowd and later found out NO PERFORMANCES were made to my knowledge and the festivity was shut down. So much for that! But Im pretty sure most of the folks enjoyed themselves, and seeing everyone they knew lol

For Christine's birthday, me and Mimi bought a cake from the supermarket and customized it with some sprinkles and neon bright candles, copped some balloons from the pharmacy and blew them while we drove back home, got a pretty box and cut up paper in pretty shapes, with some of the best memories Christine has had, written in each. We then called her over where we covered her eyes and surprised her singing along with a "Happy Birthday" song playing from YouTube on my phone. >_< so what! lol!

We spent the rest of the night talking, laughing, and watching movies. That's love :) and its priceless.

SHOUT OUT to the BMCC Fashion Club, and I say this with the upmost passion!

On Friday night, at the Student Government Association Awards Banquet, which took place at BMCC, the Fashion Club, (a re-newed club started by myself in September of 2009) was awarded not one, but two awards!

First award : Most Collaborative.

Second award : Best Event.

Officers Siria Alvarez, Angela Velez, and Azaria Charles were present to accept the awards.

The Fashion Club has worked SO HARD that words could not define its extremity. The planning, the promoting, the networking, the training, the building, the disagreements, the compromising, the sweat, the tears, the laughs. You name it, we went through it and I never thought I could produce a successful team and I never thought that team would consist of some of the best people I've ever met, or that what we all went through would change all of our lives. Next semester when you walk into BMCC, go inside of the Student Government Complex and take a good look at what YOU did. That board that states THE FASHION CLUB, not once, but look twice :) You can do whatever you set your mind to, you proved it!!

this past weekend started off with the long awaited....

Whorehouse 3 !!!

it took place in one of the dopest parts of Brooklyn at a spot called the House of Yes

Performers included Smash Simmons and the infamous Ninjasonik.

Designs by the fab designer Butch Diva were displayed by hot models (including myself!)

 Free candy by Kish and Princess of the Posse tees were given away!

Unfortunately the fire marshalls and po came to shut down the party rather early due to its pure dopeassness overload.

But does that mean the party ends? Hell naw!!

We brought the party to the streets!!

.....and continued the next day over at the 40 Oz Bounce in Riverside Park in The Heights

The park was flooded and if you were at Whorehouse the night before, you saw at least 80% of the folks from there.

Talking, laughing, drinking, smoking, lying down by the river.

It was the chillest festivity. Downtime in unison. Almost like a family reunion of dope nyc folks

But as all good things must come to an end...and even faster when the police come through...so it did. And as the night before, we brought the party to the streets again!!

\Until the cops chased us out of the park with vans and helicopters and harassed us for over 5 blocks, driving behind us in the sidewalk, yelling at us through loud speakers, and juggling bats in the air. Ya know, the usual unnecessary ruckus. #kanyeshrug.

But in a nutshell, that was my weekend of whores&40s. The summer is starting off right! TBC.
